Blimey…

…about 3 years ago, I was living at my folks house (having left my shared lodgings in Brentwood), preparing for my epic travelling adventure and considering just how to word my “I’m technically resigning but please keep me on file cos I’d quite like a job when I get back thanks very much” letter.

In fact, more accurately, I was just getting my travel insurance sorted, booking my jabs and in the process of sorting out hotels. As this blog entry shows.

Scary that it’s three years ago.

For some it may have flown past, but for me, in honesty, it actually feels like a lifetime ago. The past two years have flown, but that 8 months of travelling before it felt like forever.

Time? Linear? Shurely some mishtake!

So, here’s some nostalgia-creation for you on this Thursday evening / Friday morning: Where were you three years ago? What were you doing?

Toodles,

Pat

Having a Bad Memory Sucks

I was going to write something good today, but I’ve forgotten what I was going to write about.

I have a terrible memory.

But what’s worse is that I have a terrible…. sense of humour. Ha haaa! :)

Various Things

Oops! Yet again another week passes with no blog.

My excuse this time is that it was Lev’s stag do at the weekend, and I was tasked with organising it. Not much of an excuse, but certainly better than my usual “Oh, man, I was supposed to do daily blogs wasn’t I?” :)

Anyways, let’s fill you in on some things from the past week:

10th Mika Vs David Brent
You may have already seen this, and if you have, you should see it again. If you haven’t yet seen this, you should see this IMMEDIATELY.

What is this, this thing I am talking of?

Why: this.

11th Lev’s Stag Do – Starter Evening
I can’t play poker for toffee, or chips, or anything for that matter. However, I do have the ability to find Guinness-branded playing cards very funny, purely due to such awesome images as this on the royal cards:

For some reason RTJ and myself found the earnest repetition of “My Goodness. My Guinness!” one of the funniest things in the world that evening.

We may have been drinking.

12th Lev’s Stag Do – The Main Event!
What a mental, beery, awesome day. Thanks all for coming! STAAAAAAAAAAAAAG.

13th Oh, Go On Then…
Today, in my slightly hungover state, I decided to reinstate Squage Party. It’s back in October (exact date TBC) and will be only an hour long – but it’s back none the less, and will be every week this time. Wooh! If you want to Stay Informed, send an email to party at squage dot com requesting such a thing – or trundle to (and join) the Facebook Group. A proper web site will be made soon, I promise!

14th Kanye West is a Tool
I liked his first two albums. Then I saw him on some TV shows. Now I’ve seen him do this to Taylor Swift. He’s going to have to release something pretty frigging amazing to make me buy any more of his stuff. Mind you, he is the self-proclaimed Son of God, so I guess it’ll be pretty damned awesome. Hmm, “damned” is probably the wrong word to use in describing the work of the Son of God. Er… can we say “probably fictional”? Can I get away with that? No? Damn. ;-)

15th RIP Patrick
Sad day, today. Patrick Swayze has passed away, finally losing his 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer. You were a legend, sir. I salute you.

Go on, have a listen to this. Then go and watch this to make up for it. The sky diving scenes? Yep, that’s him. What a legend.

Sad day.

See ya,

Pat

  • I was wondering what I might write for today.

  • A blog written on “the date of three nines”.
  • If I were to do something really clever indeed,
  • It would put me up on cloud number nine.
  • But a blog just about nine? What to say?
  • I could rhyme nine – make a nice “nine rhyme”.
  • No, I shall do something a bit more fitting:
  • Through writing nine lines of nine (words, that is).
  • But how many times to mention nine? Nine? Yeah.

I can haz lite?

Yo yo!

Tonight, I went over to my supervisor’s place with some of the team, which was great as it involved a whole lot of a) BBQ food (including lots of tasty home made food!), b) chin wagging, c) laughing and d) the discovery of something I probably should’ve experienced years ago.

No, I don’t mean meat, Gib. I mean the LOLCat Bible.

Possible thoughts from yourself at this point:

  1. Ah yes, this is ridiculous (but awesome) isn’t it?

  2. Oh my… they’ve made a LOLCat Bible?
  3. What the hell is a LOLCat?
  4. That sounds a little bit blasphemous

My responses to your thoughts:

  1. Totally!

  2. YES! I KNOW! Check it out! I’ve been crying with laughter at both it and the fact that people have bothered to write it :-)
  3. Oh Hai! teh Internets calling! In other words, have a read of this. Yep, finding it funny does render you a bit of a geek. Accept your destiny :)
  4. It’s the total opposite! *

I love it. It’s just ridiculous to think that someone’s written the bible in LOLSpeak, but it’s happened. I’m a particular fan (through being introduced to the LOLCat Bible via this page this evening) of Genesis 1:

“At start, no has lyte. An Ceiling Cat sayz, i can haz lite? An lite wuz”

Well done The Internet. You get to stay.

Sony, All* Is Forgiven!

I just rebooted my PS3. And there, hey presto, was the iPlayer item on the menu! And there are lots of other bits.

Woohoo PS3 Firmware v3! And sorry Sony, you’re not bad * after all!

Toodles,

Pat

* Apart from all that terrible DRM shit you love, oh and the minor thing about putting rootkits on people’s PCs to “protect” your precious songs from “criminals” who wanted to, ooh, say, make a copy of a song they’ve just purchased from you and put it on their iPod. Which, insanely, is still technically illegal when I last checked. But that’s a whole other rant

…but I felt this needed a quick mention.

Just seen a McDonalds advert which ended as follows:

“Time, Care and Attention – That’s what makes the M. McDonalds.”

Here is my riposte:

7 Blogs in One Day – 7

Damn You, McVities!

I will never be able to pass through the biscuit section of a supermarket again without hearing a cheesy, high pitched sung version of the brand name “McVities!”.

This is almost as bad as that card company, that I won’t mention as it’ll only get that stuck in my head again.

Need a “Sorry you’ve got a crap company name jingle in your head!” card and quick? MOONPIG!

Is this going to be a worrying new trend? What on Earth will we be hearing next? A catchy jingle for laxatives? A memorable little riff for condoms? MOONPIG DOT COM? A stupid, whistled jingle for a terrible fast food chain?

Forget that last one, that would just be damned pathetic.

(ha-haaaa!)

Right, that’s the end of the blogging marathon for today. I’m off to watch some Stephen Fry in America (on BluRay, for full Landscape Shot Appreciation)… toodles and thanks for sticking with me! :)

MOONPIG!

7 Blogs in One Day – 6

SPARKLY BACKGROUNDS!

Woohoo! I’ve just upgraded the firmware on my PS3 and – get this – the main menu bit now has… a SPARKLY BACKGROUND!

And what’s more…

…er…

…um…

…well, nevermind anything else. IT’S GOT SPARKLY MENU BACKGROUNDS! I’m sure my mate Joel said it added iPlayer to the main menu. I don’t see it. It was the only reason to update, and now I’ve probably given Sony the rights to my DVD collection, light bulbs and phone chargers. I really ought to read these license agreements.
